30 Days of Dreamers & Doers | Mia Nguyen
Mia Nguyen is the CEO of Tooblessedmia Arts LLC., an art business providing services to Lincoln and Omaha residents. She instructs parties, classes, as well as hosting events and shows. She also does commissioned artwork and merchandise.
What is your earliest memory being involved in your business?
I’ve always been into art, but only took classes in high school. Summer of 2016, I had just lost everything from a toxic relationship and had so much pain and frustration in my heart. I needed a form of self expression. I opened a paint box that was gifted from high school graduation and just started painting. The feeling of telling a story through brush strokes, made it so addictive.
What would you say set you on this path?
“The Art of Inspiration” is my motto. I want to inspire everyone and anyone I cross paths with, to find their passion/self expression through any form of art. Whether it be dancing, singing, writing, photography, painting, anything!
Painting became a passion because it was also a form of stress relief, story telling, and self expression for me.
What part gives you the most fulfillment?
On top of the services I provide, I also volunteer as much as I can at nursing facilities, and boys and girls club. Seeing the elders and youth being able to get lost in a brush and paint, fills my soul the most.
What did your journey to where you are currently look like?
It was rough but I’ve definitely been blessed with the struggles in order to get where I am today. Being able to share my story through art and all I do with the world makes up for most of it.
10 years ago would you have pictured yourself in this position?
Absolutely not. I was a foster child of the system 10 years ago. I was doubted from my friends, family, caseworker and even my own mother. I wasn’t sure where life would take me or what path I would take, but my ultimate goal is to prove everyone whom doubted me, wrong.
MN: Having a passion is one thing, but turning a passion into a business and actually getting paid for my work, is like a dream come true. Getting my LLC for my art has been the highlight of my career.
Anything you’d go back and change?
Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything. Every experience that led me down this path has happened for a reason. If anything, I wish I would have experienced life a little sooner.
Any advice, tips or reminders?
Never, ever give up would be my advice to everyone. The only person you need to believe in you, is yourself. The world is yours. Find your passion, and ride with it!
