30 Days of Dreamers and Doers | Jerrica Williams
Jerrica Williams is in the hair industry with her own hair extension company called Your Hair Boutique which offers raw Indian hair, lace closures/ frontals, wigs and more. She is also a self-taught hair stylist as well.
What is your earliest memory being involved in your business?
I started doing hair when I was a freshman in high school. I actually found my interest in the hair industry through my past hair stylist Dee Williams. She encouraged me to start taking it serious, especially after she moved.
What did your journey to where you are currently look like?
I started off doing hair in my mother’s home and it consisted of me doing simple hairstyles such as braids. Then I became interested in making wigs and dying hair. I remember a time when I was trying to bleach some bundles and spilled it all over the carpet. That was the last time I was allowed to bleach hair in my mother’s home. That
didn’t stop me from pursuing my passion, which is hair!
10 years ago would you have pictured yourself in this position?
I definitely wouldn’t have, I thought that I was going to be a physical therapist.
How do you hope people feel after working with you?
Inspired and impressed. I want anyone who works with me to see my drive and passion for what I do.

JW: I sell hair because I know women love the freedom of coloring their hair and wearing different styles without having to damage their actual hair. It's also a high demand in the hair industry. I enjoy making wigs because I can be a different person everyday if I wanted to. They're fun and give me a chance to express myself.
Can you name a highlight of your career?
The biggest highlight of my career so far is making it to my 1 year anniversary. As a business owner, I study the industry and know that it’s not often that businesses make it to their first year. For me to have made it through that first year, I feel so accomplished and humbled. I owe all thanks to God and every single person who supports me throughout my journey.
Anything you’d go back and change?
I wouldn’t change anything because every situation I have encountered has taught me a lesson. I have learned so much in such a short period of time and I hope to continue to thrive and keep learning.
Any advice, tips or reminders?
Be patient and know that when it’s your time everything will fall into place.
Perfection cannot be rushed.
