31 Days of Dreamers & Doers | Harold Monday
Harold Monday makes his mark in the marketing, management and promotional industry as the CEO of Hard Knocks Productions. He helps bring some of the top artists in the game to the Midwest Region including YFN Lucci, Jacquees, Rick Ross, Plies, Kid Ink, 2 Chainz , Waka Flocka and Too Short to name a few. Alongside that, he is the booking road manager of artists Illchild & Jordan Michaels out of Omaha, Nebraska, Nikko Mcfadden out of Sioux Falls, SD and Joey Ashby out of Des Moines, IA . He is also the manger of a Video Visual & Graphics’s company - Vadofilms. When he's not managing and booking amazing shows, he's usually helping out on some of the Elite Nightlife Parties in Omaha Nebraska.
"In 2009 I went to prison and was there until 2011. When I was released, the country was going through a recession. It was hard on promoters and promotional companies to bring artists, as people were in financial binds and money wasn't being spent the same. While I had been in prison, I'd written a lot of goals and plans to try and bring different angles to the promotion game. It was time to put these plans into and action and see what I could do."
HM: I started off working with some fellas that owned a company called SL Entertainmet. My first concert involvement was being apart of bringing Rick Ross. Seeing him as an Elite artist in the music game is an awesome feeling, knowing that even back then I had the skill to work with an artist on his level.
As of recent, I wanted to re-imagine myself and open up to different markets and promote all kinds of companies to greater heights. With Hard Knocks Productions I felt I was limiting myself to just parties and concerts. Now, with a new company I have built - Defiant Marketing, Management & PR - I can help market in different lanes, be it restaurants, modeling and artist management as examples. I've already secured a new client, an artist by the name of Mia Dang.
With this company, I feel I can continue to connect the dots and build a great foundation around the Midwest. My goal is to be the #1 Company in the Midwest to bring entertainmet.
"I just hope that people see my passion and hard work behind the scenes. A lot goes into the planning, promotion and marketing that I do. I want to set an example, help and teach along the way."
What would be a highlight of your career?
Promoting a 2 Chainz and Jacquees show with only 14 Days to get the word out and the buzz up. How did we do?
Both shows sold out.
As the manager of RJs|Soco Restaurant, Harold continues to bring the heat with new and exciting events, such as Millionaire Mondays, a platform to get small businesses to connect with others, and Wine, Dine & Paint, a 'Date Night' event for couples to enjoy some soul food, good drinks and be creative.
When asked for any advice, he was very straight to the point with something so many of us have done:
"Don’t sleep on your gifts."
