“I Am...” Girls Conference, presented by The Urban League of Nebraska, is a day-long event that empowers all girls between the 7th and 12th grade to excel in their education and their individual lives. These girls will meet successful female and male professionals and attend motivational workshops. The conference is held from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the College of Saint Mary. Transportation is provided!

Join us Feb 6th for Open Coffee with Kara Eastman. Kara has more than 20 years of experience leading nonprofit organizations and serving local communities. An MSW in Social Work, she started Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance (OHKA) and has grown it from a small, start-up lead poisoning prevention organization to a nationally recognized, award-winning nonprofit that has raised more than $13 million to support green, safe, and healthy housing in Omaha. Under Eastman’s leadership, OHKA has directly served over 4,000 Nebraska families. In the process, she has created dozens of jobs at her nonprofit, within the city government, and through partnerships with the small businesses and contractors she works with. She has been a board member of the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands and has served as an appointed member of the Mayor of Omaha's Fair Housing Advisory Board.

OTS is a day dedicated to allowing high school aged youth in the Omaha metro area to come together to learn, network and solve problems plaguing them. These tasks will be accomplished in the form of youth led sessions such as breakouts (dedicated to college perspectives, finances, and life skills ), a college/career/health fair, and an open forum town hall meeting (featuring a mixed adult and youth panel). Open to any high school aged students in the Omaha Metro area (8th graders heading to HS next year are welcomed).

Omaha SOUP is a microgranting dinner celebrating and supporting creative community projects in Omaha. For a minimum donation of $5, attendees receive soup, salad, bread and a vote to hear from four presentations ranging from art to urban ag and social justice to social entrepreneurship, education, technology and MORE. Each presenter has four minutes to share their idea and answer four questions from the audience.
At the event, attendees eat, talk, share resources, enjoy art and vote on the project they think benefits the city the most. At the end of the night, we count the ballots and the winner goes home with all of the money raised to carry out their project. Winners come back to a future SOUP dinner to report their project’s progress.
Our first city-wide event is October 17th with the goal to host bi-annually. We're teaching this model to neighborhood leaders and other community organizations to replicate the model across the city year round.
ARTrepreneur Showcase, is an opportunity and platform to connect with the younger and older generations. It is important to keep the two generations close and Art will always do that!
